It's a sunny day here at Sunshine Pools, with the ice melting outside and only 286 hours until the first day of Spring! We are ramping up for a terrific pool season with deliveries of new spring and summer products this week and next. Preparations are underway for our 3rd annual Chemical School to be held the last week in April. Stay tuned for details! Wow, it's snowing again! What a crazy winter we are having! Snow up to our knees outside but before we know it, it will all melt away and be spring again!
1104 hours until the first day of spring!!!
A snow day is a perfect day to stay home by the fire and update this blog, our website, and reach out to our friends and loyal customers.
We just returned from the Atlantic City Pool and Spa show where we learned about some new and exciting products that we will be including in our store. More details to follow later!
We are in the process of planning our 3rd annual chemical school. Just like last year, we will be holding the school on two evenings; one at LaFleur's and one at the Comfort Inn.

So the first day of summer (6/21) came and went with such a flurry of activity that we didn't celebrate it as we should have. Now, we are celebrating with a new post to the blog and some updated pictures on our website that I am sure that you will enjoy! We have had a great start to the pool season with warmer-than-normal temperatures and very little rain. This has caused many to finally realize that it is worth it to have their existing pool renovated or have a new pool in their backyard. Many are seeing the value of spending money on their own stay-at-home vacations rather than on the go-away-for-a-week vacations. Happily, we provide the services to make backyard dreams a reality! Summer has arrived!

So the first day of summer (6/21) came and went with such a flurry of activity that we didn't even celebrate it as it should have been! So, we are having a GREAT start to the pool season with warmer-than-normal temperatures and very little rain. We have been busy with new pool installations (both inground and above ground) and lots of inground pool renovations. The renovations have consisted of replacing the liner, patching the vermiculite, and in some cases, completely replacing the concrete patio around the pool. We are excited to see that people are more interested in fixing up their existing pools than spending that money on vacations that only last a week or so. Backyard pools are stay-at-home vacations that offer so much for families to enjoy for years, rather than weeks. And, eliminate the need to pack up the family to go to the lake or the beach. If you have or pool, or need a pool, come see us!

It's amazing what tile and a can of paint can do to a space! We now have our new tile floor completely done and it looks amazing! We also decided to dress up the place with a new wild and crazy paint color on the walls. You'll have to stop by and check it out!

What beautiful weather we have been having! We are hoping that this current weather pattern is an indication of a GREAT summer to come! Many exciting things coming our way with the pool season right on our doorstep. We are ready to get going after a slow winter season. We still have a few 2009 hot tub models on our showroom floor that are ready for delivery immediately. Come pick out yours today. Once they are gone, they are gone.

The last fair of the year for us is upon us...Farmington Fair! We are getting geared up for an exciting week at the Farmington Fair (Sept 20 - 26). Seeing many of our friends and customers will be the highlight of the week. Three of our hot tubs will be on display there allowing passersby the opportunity to feel the warm water and dream of having their own relaxing tub in their own home/backyard. Windsor Fair

The Windsor Fair went from August 30 - September 7. The weather was absolutely perfect for bringing out lots of people to the fair every day! We had a successful week and have many leads to follow up on to sell, sell, sell! Now that all of our hot tubs are back home, we are gearing up for a busy fall with pool closings, service, and hot tub deliveries. Our first delivery of spa chemicals will be arriving next week so we will be fully stocked to be the leading hot tub dealer in our area! Next fair: Farmington Fair - September 20 - 26.

Fair Season has arrived!

August 13 - 22 we had a booth in the Skowhegan State Fair providing brochures and information for people as they passed through Constitution Hall. We had a pool filled with water with an EC40 filter system circulating the water and keeping it clean. "Diver Dave," the Hayward Above Ground automatic cleaner, scurried along the bottom of the pool entertaining the kids and keeping the pool crystal clean! All in all, the fair was a good place for us to get our name out to the local community, however, we were a bit disapointed with the lack of activities near the exhibition hall to draw the crowds to that portion of the fairgrounds. We are now looking forward to more exposure with the Windsor Fair (August 30 - September 7) and the Farmington Fair (September 20 - 26). These two fairs hold the promise of being very successful as they draw thousands of people to their events and activities. Our booths at each are very well placed to benefit from maximum foot traffic. Hope to see you there!

The hot tubs have arrived!

After much waiting and anticipation, the hot tubs have finally arrived today! The truck pulled into our parking lot at about 7am this morning. Jeff used his skid steer with fork extensions to lift the tubs out of the back of the truck and onto the ground. Then, 3 adults unwrapped them to check for damage and then get ready to bring them into our showroom through the new wide door. We carefully placed them inside in exact postions using dollies and good communication. Now, they are ready for you to come on in and admire the different colors and options available. We won 1st place in the parade!

An exciting parade was enjoyed by thousands Saturday in downtown Wilton under pristine blue skies. The event: The Annual Wilton Blueberry Festival! We were one of 170 units to participate in the longest parade in Maine. Our float consisted of "Ma and Pa Blueberry from Wilton love their new Sunshine Pool" complete with a swimming pool being enjoyed by huge 8 foot balloons decorated to look like blueberries! Jeff drove the Sunshine Pools van which hauled the float. We had 7 kids dress with 5XL blue t-shirts stuffed with balloons to look like blueberries walking down Main Street! We also built a huge balloon sculpture that looked like a giant sunshine on the back of the float. What a great day!

Wilton Blueberry Festival Preparation

The Wilton Blueberry Festival is in full swing in downtown Wilton and we are in full swing in preparation for the big parade tomorrow morning at 9am! We are building a huge float for the parade that will be hauled by our Sunshine Pools van! Be sure to come and check it out! If you miss it, I will be posting a few pictures here for your enjoyment!

New Front Entrance!

Lots of new and exciting things are happening here at Sunshine Pools! Today, even in the drenching rain, a new 8 foot aluminum door was installed. We are very excited about this new addition to our store front. This new entry will allow us to bring in our pool equipment and hot tubs more easily and safely! (more to follow on that subject soon!)

We hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July with your family and friends! We were closed for Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th. Starting this week, we are now staying open until 7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Also, starting Sunday, we will be open from 10am - 2pm allowing customers to shop Sundays as well. With all of our busy schedules, we want every opportunity to help out customers that need our products and services. Hope to see you soon!!!

New Above Ground at the shop!

Over the weekend, in between rain showers, we put up a new 24 foot round Radiant Above Ground pool at our shop in North Jay! Jeff and his son did all the ground work and had the pool up and water starting to fill it up in a matter of a few hours. This week, we will be finishing the ground work around it to make it a beautiful spot for customers to admire the pool and for us to enjoy throughout the summer. Stop by and check it out!

New Van!

We are very excited about the newest addition to our fleet of vehicles - a 2000 Chevy Express Van complete with racks inside for tools and equipment. This was a much needed purchase for Jeff and his crew to have all the necessary tools for any job that they may find themselves completing. The van was plain white when we brought it home but we were able to order some professional decals to dress it up and advertise wherever we go!

Memorial Day Weekend

Hard to believe it, but Memorial Day weekend has come and gone already! It was a very busy week leading up to the first holiday weekend of the summer season. For many, this is the traditional start to the summer and the perfect opportunity to get the pool open and running. Our sales were strong and our new customers are happy with our personable customer service and well-stocked store.

1st inground Radiant!

Our first inground Radiant is now complete! This is a 24 foot round pool with a fiberglass step. The filter system is now running and the water will be cleared up in a day or two. It's magical how a backyard can be transformed into a beautiful retreat for the whole family!

Our chemical school was well attended with about 50 people. Many attendees have provided positive feedback about the fun evening and knowledge shared. Our 20% off season supply sale is in full swing and our customers are happy knowing that they are using the correct supplies. First In-Ground Pool of the Season

It's official! We have started (and almost finished) installing our first in-ground pool of the season! We are so excited and happy for the customer who is investing in their own backyard that they will be able to enjoy swimming all this summer. We started digging Wednesday morning and by the afternoon, all the steel wall panels were set. Today, the concrete collar, vermiculite and plumbing will be done and by this afternoon, the liner will be in and water will start to flow from the customer's water source. When it is all completed, we will post a picture of the finished product, but for now, this picture shows what it looked like after a full day's work.

Business Expo was a great success!

March 14 - Business Expo in Wilton, ME. Our double booth at the Business Expo in Wilton got many compliments on how beautiful and organized it was! We had a full pool with a running filter and water fountain for people to enjoy. Many people stopped by and admired the beautiful liner choices for both inground and above ground pools. With spring just around the corner, folks are planning to vacation in their own backyards this summer, rather than take an expensive trip.

Friday, March 20, is the first full day of spring and we have been counting down the hours (literally) on our lighted sign out front! With rain showers today, the snow will be melting more and more in and around everyone's back yards which will get people thinking and planning for the summer!

News: We delivered our first hot tub Monday! The view from the customer's back deck is breathtaking and when she uses her hot tub, she will be overlooking Varnum Pond. We had a crew of 4 guys working together to lift and slide if from the trailer to her deck. What an exciting moment to have it placed exactly where she wants it and to put water in it and get it running! We are certain that she will get many years of enjoyment from this wonderful purchase. North Jay business preparing for Spring

JAY - Sunshine Pools, in North Jay, is busy getting ready for the upcoming Spring, even as the region recovers from a storm that dumped 2 plus feet of fresh snow Sunday into Monday. Preparations include renovating their showroom and installing a new sign on busy Route 4. Owner, Jeff LaRoche says, “This new sign should certainly get some attention!”
The new 4 x 8 foot sign is made of vinyl and weather-resistant plywood to withstand the next round of snow headed our way. Their new logo features a bright sun in the background with the lettering in navy blue.
Other preparations include participating in the upcoming Greater Franklin Business Expo, March 14 put on by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce which is promising to be the biggest and best yet.

New Sign!

Jeff is smiling big with the new 4 x 8 foot sign that he is getting ready to put outside! This will replace the small 1 x 8 foot sign that has been there since last spring. We'll bring the small one in and hang it in our shop. We are expecting that this new sign will definitely get noticed as traffic passes by on busy Route 4!

This past week has been a busy and productive one for us at Sunshine Pools! At he beginning of the week a TV camera crew came to our store to take some shots of us and our store for advertising!!!! We will let you know what channels and what times this will be aired! We can't wait to see how it will turn out.
In the middle of the week, we took a trip down to NH to see how pool liners are made at Vyn-All! We were able to meet the wonderful people there who make sure that the liners we order are the correct size and color for above ground and in ground pools. We were amazed at the process and thankful that we had the opportunity!
At the end of the week, we did some re-arranging in our store to make more room for new chemicals and liner samples that will be coming in very soon.

We just returned from Atlantic City where we were privileged to attend the annual Atlantic City Pool and Spa Show sponsored by the NESPA (Northeast Spa & Pool Association). We were able to meet with old and new vendors to talk about the upcoming pool season. For Kim, this was her first year attending the show and by the end of the first day, she was quite overwhelmed, yet excited about the new information that she was learning. We are excited about being more prepared for customers and new clients that will be coming our way this year to have above ground and inground pools installed in their backyards! Maybe you will be one of them!
